Daily Hours = (End Time − Start Time − Break) ÷ 60
Annual Hours = Daily Hours × Workdays × (52 − Vacation ÷ Workdays)
Monthly hours are annual hours ÷ 12. The calculator subtracts your vacation days from the 52-week year (converted to weeks) for a more accurate annual total.

A standard schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 60-minute break, 5 workdays, 10 vacation days:
Note this is 1,750, not 2,080 — the break and vacation reduce your real work hours by 330 hours per year.
How to Interpret Your Result
- Annual hours drive your real hourly rate: If you earn $60,000 and work 1,750 hours (not 2,080), your real hourly wage is $34.29, not $28.85. Fewer hours means a higher rate per hour actually worked.
- Breaks matter: A 60-minute unpaid lunch over a 40-year career is 60 minutes × 250 days × 40 years = 100,000 minutes ≈ 1,667 hours of unpaid time.
- Compare with commute: Add your commute time to see your total time commitment to work — it's often far more than the hours on your timesheet.
Assumptions
Breaks are treated as unpaid (subtracted from hours). Vacation days reduce the number of work weeks, not the daily hours. The calculator does not account for public holidays, sick days, or overtime. If you're paid hourly, your paid hours may differ from these worked hours.
